Teresa Laoue, MS OTR/L
Occupational Therapist
Teresa is a licensed and registered occupational therapist with over five years of experience at Sasco River Center. She is passionate about helping children of all ages build the skills and confidence they need to thrive in their everyday lives, creating supportive and engaging experiences that foster growth and independence. Teresa brings an upbeat and friendly personality to each session, building strong rapport while thoughtfully incorporating meaningful elements to ensure every session is as effective and therapeutic as possible.
- Teresa graduated from Sacred Heart University with a Bachelor’s degree in Health Science and continued her educational career pursuing a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from Sacred Heart University.
- Teresa has pursued continuing education in visual and ocular motor skills and their impact on learning, mindfulness and regulation, social thinking curricula, handwriting interventions, the Integrated Listening System, sensory integration, and foundational feeding techniques, all of which she incorporates into her daily practice.
- Teresa completed her Level II fieldwork placement at Sasco River Center in 2021, where she developed a strong passion for working with children as well as a deep appreciation for the organization and its collaborative team which led to her position once passing her boards.
- Teresa has had experience working with children from ages 18 months to 12 years old with various diagnoses including Adjustment Disorder, Anxiety Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Sensory Processing as well as various other motor challenges.
Teresa takes a collaborative approach to supporting each child across all environments. She works closely with schools and other providers to build a cohesive team, ensuring each individual receives consistent and effective support. Guided by compassion, Teresa meets each child where they are, thoughtfully providing the “just right” level of challenge to foster growth and success.
- Teresa is currently making her way through her grandma's personal Italian recipes and creating a page full of all her cooking and baking endeavors.
- In her free time, Teresa loves spending time with family, friends and reading all genres of books.
