Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Kym D’Agostino brings over 25 years of experience in mental health care to the Sasco River Center team. As a Yale-educated, double board-certified Family Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Nurse Specialist in Child and Adolescent Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing, she specializes in psychiatric evaluations, psychopharmacological treatment, and individual psychotherapy for children, adolescents, and young adults.

For 20 years, Kym provided psychiatric care at The Center for Advanced Pediatrics, working closely with children, adolescents, and families to offer comprehensive evaluations, therapy, and medication management. In addition to this role, she has maintained her own private practice where she provides individualized psychiatric care with a focus on thoughtful, evidence-based medication management and therapy.

With extensive experience in psychopharmacology, Kym takes a personalized, collaborative approach to medication management, carefully assessing each individual’s needs and making informed, evidence-based decisions to support their mental health. She believes in balancing medication with a deep understanding of the emotional and behavioral patterns that contribute to mental health challenges. Her expertise includes treating anxiety disorders, mood disorders, past trauma, ADHD, and behavioral challenges, always prioritizing patient education, safety, and long-term well-being.

Kym’s work is guided by a psychodynamic framework, allowing for deeper exploration of underlying emotions and behaviors. She also integrates evidence-based treatments, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), tailoring interventions to best support each client’s path to healing.

Kym strongly believes in a collaborative approach to care, working closely with families, schools, and other healthcare providers to create a well-rounded, supportive treatment plan. Her goal is to provide accurate diagnoses, stabilize symptoms through thoughtful medication management, and help clients gain insight into the patterns that contribute to their challenges—empowering them toward meaningful growth and healing.
