Claire Foster is a postdoctoral fellow at Sasco River Center. She earned her bachelor's degree in Psychology from Cornell University and completed a postbaccalaureate research fellowship at the Yale Child Study Center before earning her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Binghamton University (SUNY). Claire completed her internship at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, University of Southern California, where she subspecialized in early childhood mental health, treating patients aged birth to five years.
Claire specializes in the treatment of depression, anxiety, trauma, and neurodevelopmental disorders such as ADHD and autism in children and adolescents. She also specializes in treating a wide range of associated emotional and behavioral concerns. Her treatment approach takes a cognitive-behavioral and biopsychosocial framework, working with clients and families to better understand their individual and environmental challenges, strengths, and goals. Claire’s approach often emphasizes work on the family-level, collaborating to build caregivers’ skills and confidence to support their children’s health and success.
Claire has extensive training in evidence-based treatments in individual, family, and group settings. These treatment modalities include Cognitive Behavioral Treatment, Coping Cat, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Child Parent Psychotherapy, DIR/Floortime, Trauma-Focused CBT, Incredible Years, and Parent Management Training. She approaches each case with an individualized, integrated, and collaborative approach to tailor treatment to each client and family’s goals, strengths, stage of development, and culture.
