Dr. Stanczuk’s approach is grounded in attachment and psychodynamic frameworks, integrating cognitive-behavioral strategies and trauma-informed care. Dr. Stanczuk believes that parents are the experts on their child and views collaboration with caregivers as essential to effective treatment. She works closely with families, and when appropriate, schools and other providers, to support children across settings and ensure strategies are meaningful and sustainable in everyday life. Dr. Stanczuk tailors treatment to each child’s developmental stage, strengths, and needs, using a warm, flexible, and relationship-based approach to promote emotional regulation, resilience, and healthy family functioning.
Dr. Stanczuk believes that play is a child’s first language and that it is essential to meet children where they are. Young children may have difficulty expressing themselves verbally, but through play they can communicate thoughts, feelings, and experiences, in a safe and developmentally appropriate way. Play therapy provides a structured, therapeutic space for children to explore emotions, work through challenges, build coping skills, and strengthen relationships.
Dr. Stanczuk views comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations, including autism assessments, as a vital tool for understanding each child’s unique strengths and challenges. These evaluations guide clear, practical recommendations that support academic achievement, social-emotional development, and long-term success. She partners closely with families and schools, attending PPT meetings when appropriate, to ensure that insights from the evaluation are translated into meaningful strategies across home and school settings.
Dr. Stanczuk has experience supporting parents, toddlers, and young children with various aspects of development, including managing temper tantrums, separation anxiety, sleep difficulties, and toilet-training. Additionally, Dr. Stanczuk has provided family therapy and dyadic therapy to young children with histories of complex trauma or life stressors.
