As the summer winds down, the thought of returning to school begins to creep into the thoughts of kids and parents alike. For most, this transition comes with a bit of stress. To help reduce this stress and to allow the return to school to be a positive experience, our team of experts will provide current research on best practices in having a positive transition to the new school year. Executive Director, Dr. Chris Bogart, will discuss the typical psychological and behavioral challenges for students in preparing for a new school year, and examine ways that parents can proactively set their child up for success. Occupational Therapist, Allie Muzzio, will look at the sensory factors that are a part of shifting into school mode, and will suggest some practical ways that students can adjust comfortably to these demands. And the head of our team of learning experts, Samantha Gadsden, will offer some thoughts on helping your child get their brain back into gear for the new school year. We will look at how an awareness of executive functions can help parents and educators to best support their students as solid executive functions are often the most important variable for strong academic and social-emotional growth in children.
